New for 1973--The Aquaman Sea Sled!
This incredibly obscure find is from a 1973 issue of Toys magazine, courtesy F.O.A.M. member Brian Heiler, who regularly explores the delights found within catalogs and trade magazines over at his Plaid Stallions blog. Thanks Brian!
I'm lucky enough to actually own the Aquaman Sea Sled, which I wrote about in the first few weeks of the Shrine. But I'm curious about something--here's the sled as it was sold:
...if you look close at the sticker shown in the article, you can see its a different picture than the one that ended up on the final product. I wonder what that original art was? Perhaps an Aquaman comic book cover used just for placement...rest assured, the Shrine won't rest until this mystery is resolved!!
On a separate note, I like how in the article they brag that the sled is "100% bouyant"--as if anything less than that would be acceptable. 90% bouyant would still mean poor little Alex Kintner is under water, desperately gasping for air.
