But without the gloves, won't he get prune-fingers from being underwater too long? Nobody wants prune-fingers...

The late, great Don Newton. Died too young....RIP!
Don Newton was an excellent artist, and I agree that he died far too early. He drew a great Aquaman, as he did heere where our hero looks like he really means his business.
